These terms are in place for the benefit of both the student and the teacher. They help ensure that lessons can be scheduled fairly, payments are handled clearly, and everyone's time is respected.

 

I completely understand that unexpected things happen. People get sick, emergencies happen, and life can be unpredictable. I am considerate of these situations and will always try to be reasonable where possible.

 

At the same time, I ask that students consider my schedule. When a lesson is missed without sufficient notice, I lose that teaching time, and another student may also have missed the opportunity to book that time.

 

My policies are designed to help keep things fair for everyone.

 

1. Scheduling

 

All lessons are taught online through Google Meet.

 

Lessons must be booked in advance.

 

Students may reserve a regular weekly lesson time. However, a regular time may need to be changed if lessons are frequently missed or cancelled.

 

If you need to change your regular lesson time, please let me know as soon as possible so I can try to find another suitable time.

 

2. Payments

 

Payment is required at the time of booking a lesson.

 

A lesson is confirmed once payment has been received.

 

Lesson rates may change periodically. Any changes to rates will be communicated in advance.

3. Cancellations & Rescheduling

Please provide 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson.

 

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than the required notice may be charged at the full lesson rate.

 

Where possible, I will try to be understanding of unexpected circumstances such as illness or emergencies.

 

If I need to cancel a lesson, you will receive either a full credit for the lesson or the option to reschedule.

 

4. No-Shows

 

If you do not attend your scheduled lesson and no notice has been provided, the lesson will be charged in full.

 

No-show lessons cannot normally be rescheduled or refunded.

 

5. Late Arrivals

 

Lessons will end at the scheduled time, even if you join late.

 

If you arrive late, the lesson time will not normally be extended.

 

If I am delayed, you will receive the full lesson time or have the option to reschedule.

 

6. Technical Issues

 

Students are responsible for having a suitable internet connection, working audio and video equipment, and access to Google Meet.

 

If a technical issue occurs on the student's side and prevents the lesson from continuing, the lesson may be shortened without a refund.

 

If a technical issue occurs on my side and prevents the lesson from continuing, we will either reschedule the lesson or arrange an appropriate alternative.

 

7. Privacy & Student Information

 

I respect your privacy and take reasonable steps to protect the personal information you provide to me.

 

When you book lessons or communicate with me, I may collect information such as your name, email address, contact details, booking information, payment-related information, and other information you voluntarily provide in connection with your lessons.

 

This information is used for purposes reasonably connected with providing and managing my teaching services, including scheduling lessons, communicating with you, processing payments, maintaining business records, and providing lessons.

 

Your personal information will not be sold or used for unrelated marketing purposes.

 

Some information may be processed or stored through third-party services that I use to operate my business. These may include online lesson, booking, payment, communication, website, or other business-management platforms. These services may have their own privacy policies and security practices.

 

Information shared with me during lessons is treated as private and will not intentionally be disclosed to other students or unrelated third parties, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

 

I take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and to prevent unauthorised access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no online service or electronic method of storing or transmitting information can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

 

Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including any applicable business, accounting, tax, or legal requirements.

 

You may contact me to request access to, or correction of, personal information I hold about you, subject to applicable law.

 

I will handle your personal information in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 2020.

8. Language & Respect

 

Important to note - I teach my students with respect and courtesy and appreciate it when they treat me the same. I believe in teaching you to expand your vocabulary and communicate appropriately in English so please no swearing or dirty words. Aggressive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerant. 

If these are not abided by, the lesson will be canceled immediately with no refund of payment to the student.

 

9. Lesson Content & Learning Materials

 

Lesson content is prepared according to the student's goals, level, interests, and needs.

 

Teaching materials and resources provided by me are intended for the student's personal learning and may not be copied, redistributed, sold, or used commercially without my permission.

 

Students are welcome to ask questions, request clarification, and provide feedback about their learning experience.

 

10. Teacher-Student Communication

 

Communication relating to lessons should be respectful and appropriate.

Students may contact me using the communication methods provided for my teaching business.

I will respond to messages as reasonably as possible, taking into account my teaching schedule and working hours. Immediate responses cannot always be guaranteed.

 

11. Changes to These Terms

 

These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to my teaching services, business practices, or applicable requirements.

 

If significant changes are made, they will be communicated appropriately.

 

By booking and attending lessons, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
